Maggie Gibson is adjusting nicely to college tennis life.
The freshman was on the winning end of three matcheds as Hamline's women's tennis team won a pair of matches Saturday -- Â 5-4 over Division II UM-Crookston and a 9-0 blanking of Bethany Lutheran.
Gibson, a freshman, outlasted Sarah Muellner for a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles and teamed with another frosh --Â
Lilli Dennison -- for a 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles to pace the way against the Golden Eagles.
Jordan Danielson and
Emily Wollmuth also posted solid singles wins with
Shamara Duwearatchi and
Cassie Rammage combining for a doubles triumph. Danielson, playing No. 2 singles, scored a pair of 6-2 while Wollmuth scored a 6-0, 6-2 sweep at No. 6 singles.Â
The veteran HU doubles contingent were 8-5 winners.
Gibson came back for a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles against BLC.Â
Emily Butler, Jordan Danielson, Rammage, Duwearatchi and Wollmuth also gained singles wins in straight sets. Danielson combined withÂ
Leanna Manthe for a tight 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. Duwearatchi and Rammage claimed and the tandem of
Kelsey Anderson and Wollmuth won by wider margins.
It marked the first double win ever for the HU women's tennis team, now 3-5 overall.Â
They are off until March 15 when they tangle with St. Mary's.Â
