Box Score It could be credibly said that the Hamline women's soccer team put up a stout defensive performance Tuesday. The Pipers grabbed an early lead and held the visiting UW-Stout Blue Devils to just three total shots en route to a 2-0 win at Paterson Field.
Arendje Louter and
Aubrey Stenson each recorded their fourth goals of the season just 7 1/2 minutes apart to help Hamline improve to 4-6-1 overall on the season.
Amy Ramras handled the three shots directed her way for her second shutout of the season and the 10th of her career. The latter figure ties
Molly Jacobs (who played from 2010-12) for most ever by a Piper netminder.
Louter got the offense going when she converted a pass from
Malya Hirshkowitz at 18:31. Stenson made it 2-0 at 26:05 on a three-way passing play that was started by Hirshkowitz (
Jensen Sevening had the other assist.)
The rest was up to Ramras and the Hamline defense, which put up a wall around her for most of the afternoon.
HU outshot the Blue Devils, 9-3, on the day with Stenson the top tailgunner with three shots. Hamline is now 3-1-1 in its last five matches. They will take a 1-3-1 MIAC mark into conference play Friday night when they play at St. Mary's. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
