James Logan MIAC Men's CC Athlete of the Week

10/11/2016 1:14:00 PM

When Hamline senior James Logan goes home this weekend, he will have a lot to talk about. It might be enough news that the La Crosse, Wis. native will be running with is teammates in his hometown at the annual Wis-La Crosse Invitational meet this Saturday -- the last warmup prior to the MIAC meet on October 29.

But Logan will do so as the current MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. The award is given by a vote of the league's Sports Information Directors.

Logan, who has been the Pipers' rop finisher in all three of their meets this year, topped a 52-runner field to finish at the St. Catherine Invite last Saturday. He ran the 4K race in 12:45, edging out an Augsburg runner by less than two seconds. In the process, he helped the Pipers to a second place finish. Eearlier this year, Logan had a ninth place finish at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational (8K, 28:19.4) and a sixth place effort in the season opening meet at Wis-River Falls (8K, 27:04.50).

He is the first Hamline Men's CC runner to be so feted since Colin Rogers did so in 2013.
