3/5/2016 10:45:00 PM

Hamline got the jump on their MIAC competitors on the second and final day of the annual conference indoor Track & Field meet.

The Triple Jump, to be precise.

Bakari Jackson (pictured)  surprised many older competitors by winning the men's competition. The freshman leapt 44-0 1/2 -- beating his personal best by nearly nine inches.

Carolyn Saulsberry made it a clean sweep for the Pipers with a 36-5 1/2 effort to take the women's title.

Jackson's win keyed the Pipers' effort. Hamline finished in fourth place overall in the men's competition, totaling 88 points. In the shot put, Travis Jacobson was second with a 52-6 3/4 throw, followed closely by Chase Duwenhoegger and Eric Dols. Isaac Krause took third in the 600 Meters in 1:22.36 and Ryan Peterson came in fourth in the 3000 Meters (8:36.03).

In addition to Saulsberry, the women's team, which finished seventh with 52 points, got top five finishes from Jordan Walls , who came in 5th in the Pole Vault (10-4). A pair of relay teams came in fourth. The 4 x 400 quartet of Kristy Dellwo, Saulsberry, Izzy Shafer and Marisa Fiecke clocked in at 4:03.71 while the 800 grouping of Shafer, Dellwo, Fiecke and Mikayla Hensch recorded a 1:47.53 timing.
