Hamline head women's basketball coach Alex Focke  will have plenty of time to get ready for his first game at Hutton Arena. The Pipers' 2017-18 women's hoops schedule is out and Focke, who starts his first year at the helm, will see his troops open with four away games. 

Oh, they will get plenty of time on their historic home court, too. But the first home game isn't until Saturday, December 2 when HU welcomes defending MIAC champion St. Thomas to Hutton for a 3:00 p.m. start.

The Pipers hit the court for their first practice October 15. That gives them a month to prep for their season opener November 15 at Crown. It's the start of a three games in four days agenda that has HU traveling touring the Twin Cities with games at Northwestern in Roseville (November 17) and North Central in Minneapolis the next day. A road game at Wisconsin-Superior on November 28 is the last prep before HU kicks off MIAC play against the Tommies. 

In addition to nine games against MIAC foes, Hamline has a non-conference home date with Wisconsin-Stout on December 16. There are five home doubleheaders with the men's team. Four of those are on Saturdays with 3:00 p.m starts. The other is Wednesday, February 14 against  Concordia at 7:45 p.m.

The Pipers will travel to Las Vegas to partake in the d3hoops.com Classic. HU will take on Occidental on December 29. The next day, they face UC-Santa Cruz in their final non-conference test. Both California schools were over .500 last season.

The 18 conference games on the slate means the Pipers face four MIAC teams just once. HU will play at Macalester and Carleton while hosting Bethel and Concordia with no return matchups.
