They lost the overall meet by the barest of margins -- by .05. But there was plenty to cheer about for the Hamline gymnastics team in their season opener at Wis-Oshkosh Saturday night.
Alyssa Huch led a 1-2-3 Piper finish on the Uneven Parallel Bars and
Alexa Vorderbruggen won the Floor Exercise for the Pipers, who lost the overall meet by a scant 183.525-183.475.
Huch, one of four seniors on the team, scored 9.250.
Courtney Morrison, also a senior was next at 9.100 with
Kelsey Ranneklev right behind her at 9.025. Vorderbruggen, a fellow senior, won a tight battle with a 9.450 score.
Sydney Tribbett, a junior, was tied for second place at 9.425. (Tribbett was also fourth in the Vault with a 9.300 score.)
Lydia Ingram had the highest HU score of the night, finishing second on the Balance Beam with a 9.550 tally. (
Meghan Webb tied for third place at 9.500).
Jada Czysz-DeBoer, a freshman made an impressive debut by tying for first place on the Vault at 9.375.
The Pipers open their four home meet schedule on Sunday, January 14 against Wis-Whitewater. The meet begins at Walker Field House at 1:00 p.m.
