At the start of the football season, HU head coach Chad Rogosheske said he wanted to get more players involved in the passing game. Specifically, he wanted to get the ball to TE Phillip Sherman more often than was the case last year.

Three games into the season, this is now the case. The junior caught a touchdown pass in the season-opening win at UM-Morris as part of a two reception night. He followed that up with two more grabs in The Paint Bucket win over Macalester. Last Saturday, he grabbed a game high six catches for 61 yards at Gustavus Adolphus.

For the season, Sherman has 10 receptions (second best) for a team leading 100 yards. He is well on his way to topping last year's output of 24 catches for 281 yards.

Sherman and the Pipers get a week off to rest their legs before turning to MIAC action at St. John's Oct. 4.
