It wasn't her best time ever in the 100 Backstroke. But it was good enough to win -- and that is the bottom line. Hannah Hawker started her senior season as a swimmer the way much of her junior year -- winning the 100 Backstroke. The scene was the Augsburg Pentathlon at St. Catherine last Saturday. Hawker's time of 1:05.81 was six seconds off her school record time of 59.58 set last season.

But it provided the lone Piper women's win in the first swimming event of the season. Hannah, who has been battling inuries, later was the top Piper finisher when she came in sixth in the 100 Freeystyle race. As one of just two seniors on the HU roster, hannah is being counted on to show the new folks the ropes this year. 

She got off to a good start in this regard last Saturday. HU competes this weekend at St. Thomas.
