Few things in sport offer more pressure than overtime in college hockey. It's called sudden death for a good reason. HU goalie Katie Beckman shrugged off that challenge, making a difficult save in the extra session as the Pipers christened their new home rink -- Oscar Johnson Arena -- with a 1-1 tie against St. Catherine. 

The sophomore was beaten for a power play goal in the first period. But that was all the Wildcats could muster the rest of the night. HU came back to tie the game in the second period and the rest of the night belonged to the goalies. Beckman passed her muster solidly as the Pipers gained their first point of the season and partially wipe out the memory of a 3-1 loss the night before. 

Beckman and her mates face another tough test this weekend. Gustavus Adolphus, the perennial champs who are off to a 3-0 overall start, is the opponent Friday in St. Peter and Saturday at Oscar Johnson.
