Casey Anderson did everything a pitcher could ever be expected to do -- and then some -- last week.
The sophomore righthander threw two complete game shutouts and added a save as the Piper softballers took three of four games and improved to 5-1 in the MIAC (12-6 overall).
Anderson stifled Augsburg on Tuesday, coming in the game and working out of a seventh inning jam that saw the winning run on first base in a 8-6 win. In the second game, she overwhelmed the Auggies on four hits in a 10-0 decision.
Two days, she scattered eight hits as Hamline earned its first win in school history over St. Thomas, 1-0. The righty helped her own cause by starting a double play and spearing a seventh inning line drive. She didn't walk a batter, stretching her string in that department to 21 straight innings.
For the season, she is now 7-3 with a 3.12 ERA.
If the weather gods cooperate, the Pipers could be busy this week. They are slated to face Concordia Tuesday at Meredith Field in a pair set for a 3:30 p.m. start. On Wednesday, they travel to St. Olaf for two games. On Thursday, UW-River Falls is the guest at Meredith for two non-con games starting at 4:00 p.m. The hectic schedule wraps up Saturday at St. Catherine when HU shows for two games at 1:00 p.m.
