He is Hamline's version of The Igniter. When Dan Moro gets on base, things tend to happen. That certainly was the case last week as the junior outfielder went 8-for-16 with 11 runs scored, six RBI, five walks and six stolen bases as the Pipers won all five games they played.
Moro started his rampage by going 4-for-6 in a 4-3, 8-3 sweep of UM-Morris. He knocked in three runs in the first and stole a pair of bases in the second. The next day, he was at it again in a 5-4, 14-2 MIAC sweep of Macalester. Although he was hitless in the first game, he walked twice and scored a run. One of those walks preceded the winning hit in the eighth inning. The Scots couldn't corral him in the nightcap, though. Dan went 2-for-5, scored three runs and stole three bases in the win. Last Saturday, he was just as pesky in the 10-4 non-conference win over Augsburg. He was 2-for-3 with a double, scored four runs and another stolen base ( a team high 16th, second in the MIAC) in the win.
His overall batting average jumped 22 points last week to .382
The Pipers are now 18-12 overall. They are 6-6 in the MIAC and play at Carleton tomorrow in a key conference twinbill. The first game in Northfield starts at 2:30 p.m. HU also plays Saturday at Bethel and Sunday at Bethany Lutheran
