This is the final week of the regular season for the Hu baseball team. As far as Evan Cordell ius concerned, the season should extend until, say, June.
The senior outfielder has really gotten into the swing of things lately. He went 13-for-26 last week as the Pipers as the Piper split six games to improve to 21-15 overall -- thus guaranteeing a third straight winning season under head coach Jim Weyandt.
Evan had a doubleheader to cherish at Carleton, going 7-for-10 with three runs scored, three doubles and seven RBI. He got two hits in each game at Bethel last Saturday (the second was a 13-8 win, snapping a six-game winning streak for the league leaders). he had one hit each game Sunday at Bethany Lutheran.
The Lakeville, MN native now has recorded 14 straight games, raising his batting average 80 points in the process.
In all, Evan is hitting .368, second on the team by just one point. He also is second on the team in walks.
Cordel; and the Pipers play St. John's Wednesday in a key MIAC twinbill at CHS Field (2:30 p.m.). They finish the regukar season Saturday at UW-La Crosse.
