Last Saturday was an excellent day to run and jump at Klas Field. At least HU junior Carolyn Saulsberry thought so. The Minneapolis native won two events (setting a school record in the process) and participated in two others in the annual Meet of the UnSaintly.Â
Carolyn ran past the field in the 100 Hurdles, winning in 15.02 ticks, the second fastest time this year by a MIACer in this event. Later, she broke a 11-year old record when she claimed top honors in the Triple Jump with a 37-6 1/2 showing. That, too, ranks second so far this spring in the conference.Â
The junior also finished fourth in the Long Jump (16-05 3/4) and capped the day by anchoring the 4 x 400 Relay team that finished in second place. (The Hurdles prelims are earlier). The Hurdles finals, the Relays and the Triple Jump final are slated for Saturday.Â
She figures to be just as busy this weekend when the Pipers compete in the annual MIAC Outdoor Track/Field Meet at Macalester May 8-9. The Long Jump final is Friday at 5:30 p.m.
