Trevor Tallaksen has always been considered a heads up men's soccer player. Last week, he took this concept a step farther than most. On Wednesday, he headed in a ball that had started with a corner kick for the Pipers' lone goal in a 3-1 loss at St. Olaf.
Last Saturday, he put his noggin to work again. This time, he was in front of the St. Thomas goalie and he headed one past him to lift the Pipers to a 1-all tie in the first half. Later, Abbai Habte connected on apenalty kick and Hu wealked away with an important 2-1 win over their Summit Ave. neighbors.
For the season, Trevor is tied for the team lead in goals with three. What is even more impressive is he has done this on just six shots on goal.
Tallaksen and his mates are taking their spikes on the road this week. The Pipers (3-5-2, 2-1-1 MIAC) are at Northwestern (MN) Monday in a non-conference game and travel to St. Mary's October 10 for a MIAC encounter.
