For some one who is listed as being just 5-5, Anna Briscoe has been standing tall lately in goal for the HU women's soccer team. The freshman earned her second shutout of the year last Wednesday when the Pipers claimed a rugged 1-0 road win at St. Olaf.
HU's three-game unbeaten string came to an end Saturday with a 2-1 loss to St. Thomas. But Briscoe, starting her fourth consecutive game, stopped five shots to keep her team within range of the Tommies.
The UST appearance was her fourth consecutive start. During that time frame, she has allowed just three goals. (She also earned a shutout at Northwestern.)
Overall, her save percentage of .813 ranks second among all MIAC netminders. The goals-against mark of 0.96 is tied for third. Hamline (3-6-1 overall, 1-3-1 MIAC) has a pair of tests scheduled this week. On Tuesday, they will host UW-Stout at Paterson Field (4:00 p.m.). On October 9, they return to the MIAC wars with a game at St. Mary's.
