Officially, the meet didn't count for anything. But if you believe in omens, then last Saturday's Hamline Pentathlon was a good one for Hamline swimmer Hodd Gorman. The sophomore won two events and was second in two others in the competition against Macalester.

Gorman swam the 100 IM in 58.53 seconds to top the field. He came back with a 1:04.68 clocking to earn top honors in the 100 Breaststroke. He gave teammate Cody Clay a memorable battle before finishing second by .2 of a second in the 100 Freestyle. He was also second in the 100 Backstroke, trailing only teammate Colton Plumber by less than a second.

Gorman and his mates jump into the pool against more competition this Saturday when they will compete in a meet at St. Thomas.
