And a sophomore (with freshman eligibility) will lead them. Such was the case for the Hamline women's cross country team, when Meg Griffin was the first Piper across the finish line at the MIAC Cross Country Meet at Como Golf Course.

Griffin led a tight pack of Piper runners with a 49th place finish in the 6K race. Her time of 24:55.7 was just two seconds faster than teammate Brenna Kennedy. Griffin was the fifth first year runner across the finish line, giving hope for the future. It was the third consecutive meet that the Elk Grove, Wis. native was the first HU women's runner to cross the tape.

The Pipers finished in 10th place in the meet but just a dozen points behind Augsburg. Hamline runs at the Fall Finale this weekend at St. John's.
