Ryan Ferkinhoff isone guy who probably wishes the football season could go on for a few more weeks. The running back was just getting warmed up.
The St. Anthony, Minn. native went out a winner last Saturday, rushing for a career high 85 yards and a touchdown on just eight carries as the Pipers defeated Carleton, 19-7, in Northfield. For the season, he carried the ball 37 times for 196 yards -- 181 of which came in the final three games of the year.Â
He has always shown good hands and did so again this year, catching 17 passes for 123 yards and a TD. After playing four years of football, you would think a fellow would deserve a little rest.Â
Not so here. Ferkinhoff will be coaching a JV high school basketball team this winter. He also coaches an American Legion baseball team during the summer. Now he will be able to tell them from personal experience what it is like to finish strong.
