Some things cannot be planned in advance. Take what women's hockey senior Chelsea Koehn did the other night against St. Benedict as an example. Hamline led the Blazers, 2-0, in the second period when Koehn, whose team was shorthanded, suddenly spotted an opening.

She split the defense, went in and scored and the Pipers took off from there for a 5-1 win. The Michigan native also had an assist in the game to up her career total to 55 points, which ties Sophie Davidson (2006-09) for eighth best in HU history.

Koehn and the Pipers defeated the Blazers, 1-0, the next afternoon as well to improve to 3-0-1 in the MIAC, their best conference start ever. HU (3-2-2 overall) has a game at UW-Eau Claire on November 24 They return to MIAC action December 4-5 against St. Thomas.
