It's not always easy for a six-footer to remain in the background on a women's basketball court. But HU sophomore Alex Peterson often does so, preferring to get the grinder rebounds and set up hotshooting Chloe Graves and Chelsey Bonsante for baskets. 

But Peterson can score as well and she did so last week to help Hamline's hoopsters win two of three games. It started with a season high 17 points as the Pipers jumped on Crown for their first win of the season, 83-55. Peterson had six rebounds that night. She upped that total to a season high nine and added nine points in a 71-70 OT loss at Macalester. 

Last Saturday, Peterson was the main offensive thrust in the first half as HU jumped ahead early, fell behind and then rallied for a 63-57 win at St. Catherine. Alex had 11 of her 15 points in the first half. 

Hamline is now 2-5 overall and plays at St. Benedict Wednesday. They return to Hutton Arena for just the second time this season this Saturday against St. Olaf. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
