Picking a soccer player as the Men's AOW in December might seem a little unusual. But it isn't often a Piper gets named to a NSCAA postseason team. Abbai Habte, a hardcharging senior forward, become just the third HU men's player ever to do sop when he was named to the North Region third squad last week.

The St. Paul, Minn. native joins Drew Lukas (2008, 2009) and Jacob Helling (2006) in a very exclusive club.

Abbai led the Pipers and was second in the MIAC in goals (10) and points (24) in 2015. He had the first three-goal game in four years when he suuplied all the offense in a 3-0 win at Northwestern. He was named to the All-Conference team for the second season and was one of the reasons why Hamline broke an eight-year drought and advanced to the MIAC playoffs in November.

Abbai's legacy will remain for years to come. The St. Paul Central grad stands fourth all-time in school history in goals (16) and points (40).
