Name any event in a track and field meet. it is likely that Hamline junior Gabby Koel has done it at one time or another. The Alexandria, Minn. native was in fine fettle last Friday at St. Olaf, winning one event and placing second in another. That in itself is not that unusual. The events she did it in, however, is.
Koel won the Shot Put competition with a 11.05 Meters (36-3 feet) effort. That is the second best throw record so far in the young indoor T/F season for MIAC participants.
Earlier in the day, Koel was in spint mode, finishing second in the 60 Hurdles  in a time of 9.78 seconds. She has the fourth fastest 55 Hurdle time this year with a 9.75 performance.Â
The multitalented Koel was Hamline's rep in the Heptathlon competition last year. Her total of 3676 points was a 200 point improvement from the year before and was good for 10th place.Â
The Pipers are idle this week. They return to action February 5 at Macalester.Â
