The Hamline women's tennis team wraps up its season at Macalester April 28. No matter what happens there, it has already been a successful -- and winning -- season for junior Maggie Gibson.
The Elk Mound, Wis. native has already clinched a winning season in singles with a 10-8 record. For the most part, this has been achieved in the No. 6 slot but she has played twice at No. 5 and won her only try at No. 3.Â
Last week, she scored a straight set win against her Wis-River Falls opponent and lost a 6-4 second set in the Pipers' match with Bethel.
In doubles, head coach Jon Henning has moved her around a bit. Most of the time, she has been paired with Elizabeth Hughes but Maggie has also played with freshmen Maddie Muotka and Natalie Pieterick.Â
Hamline is 6-12 overall, 1-8 in the MIAC. The team graduates three seniors but Gibson and fellow juniors Lilli Denison (who is 9-8 in singles this year) and No. 2 singles and doubles player Jordan Danielson will be back next year along with the impressive freshman crop.
