Perfection is a rarely attained goal in athletics. Hamline sophomore men's goalie Dean Isaacson, however, did just that last week as the Pipers won twice to set a new record for most consecutive wins at six in a row.Â
Isaacson and a stout defense were at the top of their game last Wednesday as HU opened MIAC play with a 1-0 win at Concordia. The St. Paul, Minn. native stopped the only shot he faced in recording the shutout. On Saturday, he was busier, recording five saves (one short of the season high) -- four of which came in the second half -- in a 2-0 win over Wis-Superior at Paterson Field. It was the fifth straight game that the Pipers held a team scoreless and stretched Isaacson's person scoreless streak to an impressive 435:45.Â
Isaacson and his mates have little time to revel in their streak. The Pipers host Bethany Lutheran at Paterson on September 19. On Friday, September 23, they travel to undefeated Macalester for a 7:30 p.m. matchup. Both teams are rated in the Top Ten in the most recent NSCAA D-III North Region poll. Macalester is No. 1 and Hamline (6-1 overall) is No. 7.Â
