Casey Anderson had a busy -- and productive -- week for the Hamline softball team. The senior righthander was a force on the mound and at the plate as the Pipers won four of six games and moved into second place in  the MIAC with an 8-2 conference slate and an 13-9 overall mark.
Anderson threw three shutouts and stretched a string of scoreless innings to 26 in a row. It started on Wednesday with a five-hitter in a 6-0 win over Macalester. Three days later, Anderson held St. Olaf at bay all the way in a 7-0 win. On Sunday, she held St. Thomas' potent bats in check in a 6-0 win. Counting a shutout she had the week before, that made four straight blankings -- a feat that lowered her ERA by two runs and improved her overall won-loss mark to 6-4.Â
That would be impressive  by itself but the Robbinsdale, Minn. native also made a big impression at the plate. In the second game of the doubleheader against the Tommies, Anderson drilled a grand slam to cap a nine-run inning a 17-10 win. It was her third home run of the season. Overall, Casey is batting .340.
Anderson and her teammates are back on the field on Thursday, April 13 against Bethel. The first game of the twinbill at Meredith starts at 3:30 p.m. Hamline plays at St. Catherine in a 1:00 p.m. pair.
