Freshman wide out Nick Barber has wasted little time getting noticed on the football field. In his first four games, he caught a dozen passes for 211 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Turns out he was just getting warmed up.

Last Saturday, he and QB Justice Spriggs were on the same wavelength all afternoon in the Pipers' freewheeling 40-33 loss at St. Olaf. Barber snagged 16 passes for 274 yards and four touchdowns. The latter two numbers are school records and just shy of the MIAC standard as well. The 16 grabs was just two shy of Dick Donlin's 62 year old record set in a game at St. John's.

Barber found the end zone in all four quarters as HU roared back from  a 28-6 first half deficit and nearly tied the game in the final minute of play. As a result, he now has the team lead for receptions with 28 and his average of 93.7 yards per game ranks second in the MIAC. The reception and yardage figures recorded Saturday rank as the third best individual effort among all NCAA D-III receivers this season. 

So what will Barber do for an encore? The home crowd will get to find out Saturday, October 14 when the Pipers welcome Concordia to Klas Field for Homecoming. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
