Hutton Arena is known as a hot place to play basketball. Alaina Quaranta, a junior guard on the Piper women's basketball team, is making it even hotter to handle these days. The Eau Claire, Wis. native had a career high 27 points last Wednesday in Hamline's 71-66 at Carleton. She turned up the heat on St. Catherine last Saturday with 16 in a 64-57 victory. 

It was the eighth consecutive double figure scoring effort for Quaranta, who has upped her per game average nearly 50 per cent in that timespan to the current team leading 12.5. 

In addition to scoring, the 5-6 Quaranta is averaging 4.3 rebounds per game (second on the team) and leads all comers with 32 steals. 

Quaranta and the Pipers (3-12 overall, 2-6 MIAC) have a pair of games at Hutton this week. St. Olaf visits Wednesday, January n17 at 7:00 p.m. St. Mary's is at Hutton on Saturday, January 19 for a 3:00 p.m. encounter.
