Darby Dodds had a weekend for the record books. The senior forward set one woman's hockey team record and tied another as Hamline remained in first place in the MIAC and stretched its school record undefeated streak to 11 straight games with 8-1 and 7-1 wins over St. Olaf last weekend.
On Friday, she had two goals and four assists to tie a school record for points in a game. The Pipers started slow, trailing St. Olaf, 1-0, after a period. But they exploded for four goals in each of the last two periods pull away for the home ice win.
The next afternoon, the Byron, Minn. native added a goal in the win at Northfield. She now has 10 goals and 23 assists on the season for 33 points. That total leads the MIAC and has already set a new school standard for points in a season -- with eight regular season games. HU is 13-2-2 overall. Their 8-1-1 mark is stop the MIAC standings by two points over St. Thomas.
Dodds and the Pipers, who are rated 8th in the country in the latest d3hockey.com poll, hit the ice this weekend for a pair of games. They play Bethel in Blaine, Minn. on Friday, January 26 (7 p.m.). The teams face off at TRIA Rink on Saturday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m.
