February 3, 2018 will be a day to remember for a long time for senior women's hockey forward Sarah Bobrowski. It's not often you etch your name in a NCAA record book.Â
The St. Paul, Minn. native did just that when she scored six goals and assisted on three others in the Pipers' 13-5 win over Concordia in Moorhead. The nine points was one more than had ever been achieved before in a NCAA D-III women's hockey game. The six goals also tied a NCAA record for most goals in a game.
Bobrowski, who leads all NCAA D-III women pucksters with 49 points, started early. She set up Bre Simon for a goal 20 seconds into the game. Sarah then scored twice in a span of 96 seconds. By the time the first period was over, Sarah already had a hat trick plus three assists as Hamline burst to an 8-0 lead.Â
The daughter of assistant coach Jake Bobrowski added three more goals during the game as HU cruised to a school record 16th win against three losses and two ties. The Pipers are in first place in the MIAC with a 11-2-1 mark. They are one point ahead of St. Thomas and two up on Gustavus Adolphus.Â
Bobrowski and the Pipers are back in action this weekend with a pair of game against St. Mary's The teams meet in Winona on Friday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m. They have a rematch at TRIA Rink in downtown St. Paul on Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m.
