Darby Dodds' goal in the waning seconds of overtime that lifted Hamline's women's hockey team to a dramatic third place finish in the NCAA D-III Women's Ice Hockey Tournament March 17 was the headline in the game story. 

But none of this could have happened without Becca Zarembinski's work earlier ijn the 5-4 win over Plattsburgh State. The junior scored twice, including the gametying goal late in the third period, to help Hamline finish its best women's hockey season ever with a 22-5-3 record. 

HU had a 1-0 first period edge when the junior converted a winning faceoff by Leah Schwartzman into a goal at 9:47 of the first period.

With HU trailing 4-3 in the third period, the Maplewood, Minn. native knotted the game at 15:16 with her 11th goal of the season, setting the stage for the late dramatics. 

It capped a year that saw Zarembinski tie for the team lead in first goals with four. The last of those started the Pipers on their way to a 4-1 win at Gustavus Adolphus in the MIAC Championship game. 

Zarembinski will be back for more next season.  She will have company. The Pipers lose just three seniors who saw ice time in 2017-18.
