As one of just two seniors on the 2018 HU softball roster, Abbie Annen knows well the mantle of leadership falls, in part, on her. The Shakopee, Minn. native showed she up to the task last week, going 4-for-8 with three doubles and five RBI as the Pipers split a pair of doubleheaders in California, coming home with a 7-5 overall record.
Abbie went 2-for-3 in a 6-05 loss at Whittier in the first game of a DSH. In the second game, her bases loaded double brought home three runs -- the margin of difference in an 8-5 second game win.
At Redlands, Annen went 0-for-3 but drew a bases loaded walk to force in a run as part of a four run rally in the seventh inning that produced a 6-4 win. For the season, Annen is batting .345 (10-for-29) with a team leading five doubles and seven RBI. Perhaps even more impressive is this stat: she has fanned just once all season.
Weather permitting, Annen and the Pipers take on Northwestern (MN) in Roseville on Tuesday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m.
