The Steve Lindgren award is given annually to Hamline's outstsanding senior male athlete. This year's winner -- baseball's Jordan Buck -- exhibits many of the same characteristics Steve had during his time as a football and track and field athlete here in the 1970s. On the field, he has served as the team's leadoff man for much of the past three seasons. He has done very well in that job, hitting at a .344 career clip. But he also does the little things that teams need, such as garnering 76 walks and, when necessary, getting a stolen base or dropping down a sacrifice bunt. His coach, Jim Weyandt, also praises his workwork ethic, noting Jordan has been a constant at those lovely 6:00 a.m. off season workouts. Jordan was a big part of the school's first baseball championship in nearly 40 years two years ago. It would not be surprising at all if he plays a major role down the stretch as the Pipers gun to make it two in three years,
