The Hamline men's tennis team hadn't beaten St. Thomas in a decade. Thanks to some yeoman work by Jake Trondson, the Pipers came very close to ending that streak last Sunday before finishing with a 5-4 loss.Â
Trondson, a sophomore, continued his fine season with a pair of 6-4 wins at No. 1 singles. Earlier, Trondson and teammate Matt Seracki claimed an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. For the season, the St. Paul, Minn. native is a perfect 9-0 in singles. He and Seracki have been outstanding in doubles as well with an 8-2 mark as the No. 1 team.Â
Before taking on the Tommies, Trondson defeated Macalester's No. 1 singles player, 6-4, 6-3, in the Pipers' 7-2 loss April 6.
For the season, HU is 7-4 overall, 0-3 in the MIAC. They will be back on the court April 14 at Carleton. The match begins at 10:00 a.m.
