Dana Almquist is making up for lost time quickly. The senior attacker missed nearly a month of the 2018 season with a foot injury. Once back in the lineup, she has returned to doing what she does best -- make opposing goalies miserable with her shot making skills.
The Hugo, Minn. native was in fine form last week, scoring 10 goals and adding three assists as the Pipers blew away Northwestern (Minn.), 22-6 and Monmouth (Ill.), 15-1, to run their school record winning streak to 11 games in a row and end the season 13-4 overall. HU won all 11 of its Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference games to finish alone in first place and will host the conference tournament this weekend at CHS Field.
HU will host Aurora on Friday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. If they win, they will meet the winner of the Augsburg-Concordia (Wis.) game on Saturday, May 5 for the postseason championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament.Â
In six games since returning from her injury, Dana has scored 23 times and assisted on seven other tallies. Last she set a school record with 71 goals as HU won the MWLC tournament and advanced for its first ever NCAA appearance. She -- and the Pipers -- hope to see history repeat itself this weekend.Â
