Zach Smith could hardly be blamed if he doesn't know what to to so with his spare time these days. The Burnsville, Minn. native has been very busy for the past seven months.Â
Smith, a starting guard on the men's basketball team and a stalwart on the baseball team's pitching staff, capped a superb four year career at Hamline, was named Men's Senior Athlete of the Year at the annual athletic celebration held at Anderson Center May 13.Â
Numbers hardly do Smith justice but here are a few of note.Â
In basketball, he ranks third all-time in Assists (348), sixth in Steals (111), seventh in Field Goals Made (494), Free Throws Made (305), and Three-Pointers (92) and is 11th all-time in Points (1384). he was named All-Conference for the third straight season.
On the diamond this year, he had a rare double-double, leading the Pipers in wins and saves. In four seasons, he appeared in 59 games as a starter and a reliever, recording 14 wins. Those 6-1 shoes will be hard to fill next year.
