Talk about making a great first impression. Madison Hurrle did just that last weekend as the Hamline volleyball team opened the season with four wins in a tournament in Northfield. 

The Kimball, Minn. sophomore registered 46 kills and added 14 blocks as HU roared off to its best start since 2014. Her average of 3.29 kills per set ranks second in the early going and the kill total is third best in the loop.

Madi was impressive out of the gate with 15 kills as the Pipers edged Simpson, 3-2, in their season opener August 30. She recorded double digit kill mefforts in a pair of 3-0 wins over Crown and Martin Luther the next day. (She also had three solo blocks and three assists in the blanking of the Storm.) 

The Pipers head to Superior, Wis. this weekend for a tournament. They face the host Wis-Superior Yellowjackets on September 7. The next day, the Pipers face Marian and will engage Lakehead in an exhibition match. It's the last tuneups prior to the MIAC opener September 12 at Gustavus Adolphus.
