She has a job that, at times, is one of most thankless positions on a soccer field. As a midfielder, Jenna Sampson, a junior on the women's team, is responsible for helping to control the flow of the game all over the field. As evidence of her overall leadership, she is one of the captains of the 2018 team. When the opportunity presents itself, the Lake Stevens, Wash. native can also do a lot of damage up front. Just ask Minnesota-Morris, who she torched for a goal and two assists in a game this season.
Sampson is also very effective off the field. She sports a 3.76 GPA as a double major in Business Administration and Management/Marketing. For these reasons (plus the fact she intends to graduate a semester early), Jenna is Hamline's nominee for the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Director Association) Academic All-America team.
Sampson and the Pipers wrap up the 2018 season this week with a pair of road tests -- October 24 at Gustavus Adolphus (3:30 p.m.) and October 27 at St. Catherine (1:00 p.m.)
