Saturday, December 8, 2018 will be a day the Hamline women's basketball team -- and, in particular, junior forward Reilly Geistfeld -- may remember for a long time to come.Â
The Pipers turned on an old tormentor, routing St. Benedict, 87-58, in St. Joseph. It was their first win over CSB since 2011 and their first at Claire Lynch hall in 32 years. Geistfeld had a lot to do with the lopsided verdict.
The St. James, Minn. native had a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds. The scoring largesse tied her career high (set November 17 against Bethany Lutheran) and the rebounding total was one shy of her career best set as a freshman in a game at St. Thomas.Â
Geistfeld hit from all over the court, sinking 11 baskets (including three three-pointers) and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. She now leads HU in scoring at 16.3 points per game. Her 58 field goals made tops all MIAC shooters.Â
Hamline is 5-4 overall, 1-2 in MIAC play. They have one conference game left on the 2018 part of ths schedule -- Wednesday, December 12 at Macalester (7:00 p.m.) . HU has a non-conference date with Viterbo on Saturday, December 15 at Hutton Arena. Game is is 5:00 p.m.
