Reilly Geistfeld had a big piece of the action in one of the most memorable women's basketball wins on the Hutton Arena in a long time. On January 2, HU trailed St. Mary's, 65-58, with 15 seconds to play.Â
Geistfeld, who had scored the Pipers' previous basket, drilled a three-pointer to make it 65-61. SMU missed a pair of free throws. The St. James, Minn. junior found the ball,in her hands and hit another long range bomb with four seconds left to make it 65-64.
Her teammate Kaeli Stayer finished matters with a three-pointer at the buzzer and HU had a memorable 67-66 win. Geistfeld's line for the night: 23 points, 12 rebounds.Â
Three days later, she scored 18 points, snagged nine rebounds and recorded three blocked shots in a loss at St. Thomas. The junior is tied for the MIAC lead in scoring at 17.1 points per game. She leads in Free Throws Made (47) and is third in Field Goals with 79.Â
Reilly is a major reason why Hamline is 8-5 overall and is tied for fifth place in the MISAC at 3-3. On Wednesday, they face one of the teams they are tied with when they travel to Moorhead to face Concordia (5:45 p.m.). On Saturday, January 12, they are back at Hutton to play Carleton. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
