He's the Little Big Man for the HU men's basketball team. Jake Larson did a little bit of everything last week for the Pipers, who won two important games to inch closer to a men's basketball playoff spot. On Monday, the Forest Lake, Minn. native tied his career high with 22 points. The 5-9 sophomore also grabbed six rebounds but it was his pass to Trey Prince who drained a three-pointer with 5.9 seconds left to win the game that might have been the biggest play of the night.Â
On Saturday at Carleton, Jake was relentless, playing all 40 minutes in a 71-62 win. He scored 15 points with four assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals. For the season, he leads the Pipers in assists (75) and steals (22) and is fourth in scoring at 11.8 ppg.Â
Jake and his teammates finish the regular season at home this week. St. Olaf visits Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. game and Bethel is here Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. affair. The Pipers are 11-12 overall and 8-10 in the MIAC. They currently are in sixth place -- the final playoff spot -- one game ahead of Gustavus Adolphus.
