At Hamline baseball, the buck doesn't always stop at first base. It often shows at second and this base and frequently cross home plate. The latter is ironic because that is where things start.
In this case, the buck is Cullen Buck, the Pipers' hard hitting second baseman. The sophomore was a big hit last week, rapping out six hits and knocking in six runs as HU went 3-3 on the week. It started on April 16 when Cullen had two hits, scored four runs and drove in three as the Pipers leveled Minn-Morris, 15-0.
Two days later, he scored a run in a win over St. Mary's. The next day, he had two hits and two RBI as the Pipers rallied to complete a 7-6 win over Concordia.Â
On Saturday, he had three hits in a doubleheader against Macalester. For the season, Buck is hitting .320 with a team leading 23 RBI.Â
The Pipers have five games this week at CHS Field. They host Gustavus in a DH on April 23 at 2:30 p.m. Crown visits April 25 for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game with St. Thomas in for two on April 27 at 1:00 p.m.Â
