Last Sunday, Alex Molloy rested. That was a good thing, too. The sophomore softball pitcher was coming off a busy week where she won five games, throwing 27.1 innings in the process. She also was productive at the plate, raising her batting average 60 points with five hits.
Alex's busy week started on Thursday when she was called on to throw four innings as HU rallied for a 6-5 win at St. Catherine, completing a game that had been suspended two weeks earlier by darkness.Â
But she was just getting warmed up. On Friday, she worked 9.1 innings, starting one game, finishing both of them as the Pipers took two. She had hits in both games as well.Â
On Saturday, she opened a doubleheader at Augsburg with a three-hitter in a 2-0 win. She went the route in game two as HU rallied for three seventh inning runs and a 5-4 win. She had three hits and three RBI in that game.Â
Hamline, 18-14 overall, improved to 11-5 in the MIAC and currently holds fourth place -- the final playoff spot. The Pipers finish with three doubleheaders in three days -- all at Meredith Field.
