The HU men's soccer team took a point from rival St. Thomas for the first time in five years Saturday when the teams battled to a 1-1 2 OT tie on the latter's field. And freshman goalie Joey Matesi was a big reason why. Joey made seven saves -- including 2 in OT -- as HU earned their first conference point of the season.

Matesi has adjusted very well to the college game. He ranks third in the league in Save Percentage (.804) and fifth in Saves (37). The Pipers hope a favorable home schedule (six of their next seven games are at Paterson Field) will help in the second half of the season. Hamline is 3-5-1 overall, 0-2-1 in the MIAC.
