Simon, a native of Elk River, Minnesota, registered his first career multi-goal outing in a 5-4 victory over St. Scholastica on December 6. He scored the game's first three goals which gave him a hat trick, and the Pipers a 3-0 lead at 14:49 of the first period. Simon assisted on Calvin Knight's game-winning goal at 19:22 of the third period that secured Hamline a 5-4 victory, and a four-point outing for himself. Throughout the two-game series against St. Scholastica, Simon accumulated 11 shots on goal and four face-offs won. His efforts garnered him December 7 MIAC Men's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.
