Good thing Katie Beckman was well rested going into her team's game against Concordia January 11 at Warner Coliseum. She got quite the workout that afternoon.
The freshman, however, was up to the cause, stopping 33 shots in Hamline's 3-1 win. It was the Pipers' first game since December 7 and upped their overall record to 3-7-1.
Beckman was alert early, kicking out all eight shots faced in each of the first two periods. She went one better in the final 20 minutes, deftly knocking away 17 shots, allowing only a late goal.
The Esko, MN native lowered her goals-against mark to 1.34 and her save percentage to a gaudy .954. The Pipers now head back to MIAC play with a home and home series this weekend against St. Olaf.
