Turns out Derek Lutz knows how to play in cold weather, too. A week after Lutz and his men's tennis teammates came back from practicing and playing in Florida, they played their home opener in less than stellar conditions.
No matter. Lutz, playing No. 2 singles, disposed of his foe by 6-1, 6-0 scores. This improved his season record to 7-6, all at the tough No.2 spot.
He also teamed with Cody Jahrig at No. 2 doubles for a solid 8-5 win.
The Pipers, 5-9 overall, have matches scheduled this week at Macalester (April 10) and Carleton (April 11).
