Sammons Unloads 28 But WBB Falls to St. Thomas

12/11/2013 9:29:00 PM

Box Score Jordan Sammons showed why she is leading all of Division III in points per game against MIAC co-leader St. Thomas. The junior guard poured in a game high 28 points but the Tommies, who are undefeated in the MIAC and ranked No. 10 in the country, led all the way in recording a 85-58 decision over the Piper women hoopsters at Hutton Arena Wednesday night.

The Tommies pressed from the start, jumping to a 44-25 halftime edge. The Pipers had a burst at the start of the second half, cutting the UST lead to 12 points with 15:16 to play. But that was close as they would get for the night.

In addition to Sammons, Chelsey Bonsante had eight points. Both players shook off injuries that caused them to leave the game for a short period of time to return.

Guard Chloe Graves continued her solid play with a team high five rebounds.

Hamline (0-5, 0-4 MIAC) plays at Concordia Saturday. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
