Box Score

It was a long time coming, wasn't it? After so many games where the Hamline women's basketball team seemed on the verge of having everything fall into place, it happened in impressive style Saturday.

Three players hit in double digits -- and 11 players in all scored -- as Hamline ran over Carleton, 92-69, at Hutton Arena.

Jordan Sammons -- honored before the game for her membership in the 1,000 point, 500 rebound club -- added to her credentials with a 29 point, 12 rebound, six steal effort.

She was joined in the scoring parade by Emily Behrman (pictured) with 18 points and an impressive six boards. Erika Moede came off to go a perfect 4-for-4 from long distance and snare a dozen points.

The Pipers led in every offensive category in improving to 3-12 overall (2-10 MIAC). They shot 52.6 percent (37-70), including 10 three-pointers. they had a 35-28 rebounding edge, an 18-11 margin in assists and 13-7 in steals. Je'Naya Brown had four thefts to pass the 200 mark for her career.

HU started fast and never let up. They led 41-28 at intermission. They started the second session on a 12-2 run and kept on going before a good crowd on Family and Alumni Day.

The only unfortunate part is the team won't get long to enjoy the big win. They get back at it Monday night when they travel to St. Catherine to make up a game postponed in early January due to cold weather.
