The HU women's basketball team could not warm up to the basket at Northfield's Skoglund Center. The Pipers shot just 27 per cent from the fiueld in a 76-53 loss to St. Olaf.
Jordan Sammons scored 18 points and Chelsey Bonsante (pictured) added 14 for HU, now 7-16 overall, 6-14 in the MIAC. Sammons also corraled four rebounds and contributed four steals. In doing so, she became the sixth player in school history to go over 600 rebounds and the fourth to pass the 200 steal mark for her career.
The Pipers were never able to corral the lead. St. Olaf sprinted to a 10-2 edge in the first four minutes of play, stretching it to 46-22 by halftime.
Hamline had a better start to the second half and whittled the margin to 11 points at 54-43 with 12 minutes remaining. But the Oles scored 11 of the next 13 points and stayed in command the rest of the way.
HU plays its final road game next Wednesday at St. Mary's. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The season wraps up next Saturday when Concordia visits Hutton Arena for a 1:00 p.m. game.
