Box Score It was a wild night that saw Hamline's men's hockieyteam grab the lead on three different occasions. Unfortunately, St. Mary's always had an answer and eventually escaped with a 6-5 overtime win Saturday night in Winona.

Kevin Novakovich scored twice and assisted on a third goal for the Pipers (2-21-1 overall, 1-14-0 MIAC). 

Novo got things off to a good start with his seventh goal of the season just 68 seconds in the game. It was the lone tally of a period that saw the Cardinals hold a 12-11 edge in shots on goal.

SMU worked to a 2-1 lead but the Pipers responded with three goals in a span of 2:39 late to take a 4-2 lead. Novakovich set up Andrew Carlson for the first one at 16:53 and then scored his second of the night at 18:12. Cody Mason connected 80 seconds later and things looked good for HU.

The Cardinals came back with two tallies in the first 6:16 of the third period to knot the game at 4. Andrew Herbert's first goal of the year at 10:40 gave Hamline a 5-4 lead that held until the Cardinals tied the game in the final minute. They won it in the last minute of OT, sending the Pipers to their fourth extra time loss of the year.

John Sellie-Hanson had 38 saves in goal for Hamline.

The teams wrap up the season Sunday, February 23 when they meet at Ken Yackel Arena in West St. Paul. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
